Demonstrating C.A.R.E. & Enrichment

At Thompson Primary we are proud of all of our children and encourage them to reach their full potential. We want our children to have access to experiences that enrich their lives and inspire them to try new things. Our C.A.R.E. values underpin what we do as we encourage our pupils to be Confident, Able to meet future challenges, Responsible members of the community and Effective learners.

At Thompson Primary School, our enrichment activities are underpinned by our C.A.R.E. values. We strive to ensure these activities support our curriculum and expand experiences for all of our children. This page captures some of the activities children at Thompson experience but is not an exhaustive list.

We have taken part in a range of sporting events such as our annual Trust Cross Country competition, tag rugby events as well as cricket and Norwich City Football Club football activites. We also have a sports day

Regular sports and physical activities help improve our cardiovascular health, strengthen muscles and bones, reduce stress and anxiety, boost immune function, enhance mental health and cognitive functioning, builds confidence and self-esteem, promotes teamwork and leadership skills, lets children enjoy themselves and more!

All children take part in regular Forest School sessions.
These sessions involve:
• exploring the natural environment by exploring materials and the area around them.
• provides opportunities for children to take risks and challenge themselves in a safe setting through tree climbing, using tools or sometimes a campfire.
• helps to foster independence and self-confidence in our children allowing them to design and create wonderful child led creations.
• promotes physical activity and a love of nature through movement games, insect hunting and caring for our special area.
• And, helps children to develop social skills and to cooperate with each other through den building and sharing ideas.

Our Year 5 and 6 children have the opportunity to take part in our annual residential trip. Our latest one was to Norfolk lakes. The children enjoyed various activities such as paddle boards, raft building, fencing and more.

Class trips are picked to support the learning in class and strengthen knowledge around a topic or to develop a particular skill set.

KS2 children enjoyed a trip to the pantomime at Christmas to experience a real theatre.
